Sayed Chhattan Shah is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing and Digital Technology at Birmingham City University in United Kingdom. He earned his doctoral degree in computer science from Korea University in 2012 and holds a master's degree in the same field from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, awarded in 2008.
Prior to joining Birmingham City University, Dr. Shah served as an Associate Professor of computer science in the Department of Information Communication Engineering at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea. His academic journey includes regular and visiting faculty positions at renowned institutions such as Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Korea University, Dongguk University, and Hamdard University.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Shah has extensive professional experience, including roles as a Senior Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in South Korea and a Software Engineer with the National Engineering and Scientific Commission in Pakistan. His research interests are in the areas of parallel and distributed computing systems, mobile cloud and edge computing systems, and the Internet of Things. Dr. Shah has successfully secured funding for his research from various government agencies and foundations.
As a seasoned academic, Dr. Shah is recognized as a senior member of the IEEE, a member of ACM, and several other societies. He has played pivotal roles, serving as a conference chair and contributing to program committees for various international conferences. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access, Information Processing Systems, and Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing. Moreover, Dr. Shah actively participates in reviewing funding proposals for organizations such as the National Research Foundation Korea, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and Qatar Research Foundation.
Muhammad Bilal received the Ph.D. degree in information and communication network engineering from the School of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea University of Science and Technology, in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, he was with Korea University, where he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Smart Quantum Communication Center. In 2018, he joined Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea, where he was an Associate Professor with the Division of Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering. In 2023, Dr. Bilal became part of Lancaster University, where he now serves as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) within the School of Computing and Communications. Throughout his career, Dr. Bilal has been actively involved in various research projects, including projects funded by the Korean Government Institute for Information & Communications Technology Promotion (IITP), the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) Korea, the BK21 program, National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), and the National Science Foundation China.
Dr. Bilal is a prolific author, known for his wide-ranging contributions to numerous articles published in internationally renowned, top-tier journals. His pioneering work has also led to the successful acquisition of multiple US and Korean patents. His research interests encompass Network Optimization, Cyber Security, the Internet of Things, Vehicular Networks, Information-Centric Networking, Digital Twin, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud/Fog Computing.
Dr. Bilal is an esteemed member of the editorial boards for several prominent journals, including IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, IEEE INTERNET OF THINGS JOURNAL, IEEE Future Directions in Technology, Policy, and Ethics Newsletter, Alexandria Engineering Journal (Elsevier), and Physical Communication (Elsevier). He also serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Smart Vehicles and Smart Transportation. In addition, he has actively contributed as a Technical Program Committee Member for leading international conferences such as the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC), the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), ACM SigCom, and the IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC).
